History

The Meuse region was at the heart of the fighting in WWI and many sites from the Great War can be visited today: Haute-Chevauchée, Butte de Vauquois, the Pennsylvanie monument, Kronprinz shelter, Bois de la Gruerie, the Montfaucon memorial, the American cemetery at Romagne sous Montfaucon, the Musée l’Argonne, Verdun, Valmy…

Leisure activities

The area is a paradise for hikers and fishers with the Aire and Biesme. There are many marked paths through the vast, enchanting forests of the Argonne. Set out on foot, donkey back, horseback, mountain bike or bicycle touring ; try out water sports or enjoy a round of golf at the Combles and Grande Romanie courses.
